Cowichan Fleece & Fibre Festival

Come and visit our booth at the 2018 Annual Cowichan Valley Fleece & Fibre festival on Saturday, October 21 2018. Jacquie loves to chat about everything fibre and would love to say hello. Everyone is welcome! 10 am to 4 pm at 3550 Watson Avenue, Cobble Hill, BC.

Spin-In 2018

Join us at Spin-In 2018, hosted by the Victoria Handweavers’ & Spinners Guild and held at the Saanich Fairgrounds on Stelly’s X Road. This is a lovely event in which spinners from all over the island and the mainland come together and spend an entire day spinning. The variety of wheels and drop spindles, of fibre and friends all gathered in one place is amazing! Public is welcome free-of-charge to the market hall all day, spinners can buy a ticket through VHWSG.ca. Saturday, February 24. 10 am to 4 pm.

Saanich Fair 2016

Want to learn more about alpacas and egg-laying?

Come and say hello at the 149th annual Saanich Fair, September 3, 4 and 5th. Kokopelli, Indeeya and Earl Grey will be attempting the obstacle course and Inca Dinca Do will be demonstrating fibre processing. Llama and alpaca parades daily at noon and 3 pm.

Dress a Loom Class

Class fee: $60.00
Number of Students: minimum 3
Join guild member Brenda in the Cathy’s lovely weaving studio in Central Saanich to warp a loom. This class is set up to have students participate in all parts of the process of warping a 4-shaft loom from back to front.
This is a great introduction to the processes needed to set up a loom for weaving, and will give students the techniques needed to warp their own looms or decide whether they wish to continue with weaving.IMG_0472

Introduction to Loom Weaving
October 2nd to October 30th, 2016
Five Sunday afternoons – 1:00 pm to 5:00pm
Number of Students: minimum 4, maximum 6
Cost: $200.00 for Guild members, $250.00 for nonmembers
Learn the vocabulary and basic skills of making your own fabric on a 4-shaft loom. The instructor will lead you through making a warp and dressing a loom as well as weaving techniques and planning a project. No experience or equipment is required, but if you have your own loom, please let the instructor examine it before class. An extra materials fee maybe required if you wish to have special materials for your final project.

Spin-In 2016

Once again, Victoria Handweavers and Spinners Guild is hosting their annual “Spin-In” at the Saanich Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 27 2016 from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Come and join spinners from all over the island and mainland for a day of spinning, visiting, shopping and eating. $15 entrance fee includes lunch.

And, if you are not a spinner (gasp!), (or if you just want to see what 100+ spinning wheels all gathered in one place looks like!), access to the vendor hall is free to the public. Come and say hello to Cathy and I at our Inca Dinca Do booth. We’ll have loads of irresistible alpaca fibre for sale, including roving, combed top, blends of silk & merino in naturals or dyed.
